I heard about this on the CBC this morning. A group of 16 grandmothers from Campbell River (North Vancouver Island) are going to be riding their bikes from Campbell River to Victoria. They are doing this as a gesture of solidarity with African Grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren because their own children have been killed by AIDS. You can read more about the background on the CBC site. Besides the fund-raising and awareness-raising bike ride by the grannies from Vancouver Island, there is also a Grandmothers' Solidarity March planned in Ottawa on September 8th. Grannies, get involved!
